Accessibility statement

HearthLoan should be usable by everyone, including people who rely on keyboards, screen readers, magnification, or reduced motion. We build to the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard and treat accessibility barriers as bugs to fix.

Our commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Accessibility is part of how we build pages, not a one-time audit.

What we do

  • Semantic structure. Pages use proper landmarks (header, main, footer), a logical heading order, and real HTML elements so assistive technology can navigate them.
  • Keyboard operable. Interactive elements — navigation, the calculators, expandable sections — can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with visible focus indicators.
  • Labeled forms. Every calculator input has an associated label, and results are announced in-context rather than by color alone.
  • Contrast and type. Text and interface colors are chosen for sufficient contrast, and the layout scales when you zoom or increase text size.
  • Reduced motion. We honor the prefers-reduced-motion setting and keep animation minimal and non-essential.
  • Responsive. The site is usable across phone, tablet, and desktop widths without loss of content or function.

Known limitations

We are honest about where we are still improving:

  • The interactive charts in the refinance calculator convey their key figures in the surrounding text and tables; we are continuing to improve their direct screen-reader experience.
  • Some third-party resources (such as web fonts) are outside our direct control, though the site remains fully functional if they fail to load.
